Two showbiz deaths in the last couple of days - the beautiful Lynda Bellingham (she of the old OXO gravy adverts), and reggae legend John Holt. The cause of Holt's death in London is not known yet, but the loss to reggae music is huge. Known for writing The Tide is High in the 60's, he also had a hit in 1973 with his interpretation of Help Me Make It Through the Night, a recording which is able to appeal to the younger listener of today. The first time I ever heard him was in 1982 when his distinctive version of Mr. Bojangles was played on radio.

++++++++++ UPDATE ++++++++++

It seems many famous names in showbiz are dropping dead! Now it is the turn of legendary saxophonist Raf Ravenscroft - he who provided the world-renowned solo in Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street, and also the closing solo to Hazel O'Connor's Will You.
