Guess what I did tonight, with it being Valentine's night, and all? That's right - I ate out alone. A table to myself, good food and drink - yum!

Of course, some people will always have a problem with such a situation - even to the point where they have to go and speak up about some bloke, who has the audacity to eat out alone on Valentine's night! Just let things be, why don't you? Clearly I did do it to hopefully rub some people the wrong way, and it looks like I did it without any trying whatsoever.

Just don't get me started on Valentine's Day in 1996! That'll go down as one of the most surreal. I'll give you a clue - I was married to Lesley at the time.

I only started using the iTunes program a couple of days ago, and I have to say, it is a lot of fun. Being able to try out 30 second chunks of songs, and then buy the ones you want for the rather decent sum of 79p. Boy, I found some lovelies on there. Words will never tell how nice it is to hear the song Graceland by The Bible once again, and to hear a reggae versions of Radiohead's Karma Police and No Surprises. I'm sure many Radiohead anoraks will be spitting blood at the very thought, but it really is a great interpretation. There you go, Vic - there's one to try you!

The Bible - Graceland
Radiodread - No Surprises

Any downsides to iTunes? Yes. When you download the songs, they arrive, not in mp3 format, but in m4p format, which is a copy-protected audio format. Sadly, you can only play these m4p files either in iTunes itself, or your iPod. If, like me, you happen to own another brand of mp3 player, then you are immediately screwed. HOWEVER..... there is a way around it. And iTunes itself provides it. You first need to burn the songs to a CD, and then rip that CD back to your computer in mp3 format, thus allowing you to make full use of the songs that you have actually paid for!

I also managed to buy some of the tracks from the forthcoming remaster of ELO's Balance Of Power. All the bonus tracks and none of the ones I own already! And all before release date too.

News just in....

News reports have confirmed that Paul McCartney has separated from his wife Heather Mills-McCartney. Mrs Mills-McCartney is said to be distraught over the split. "He has been my crutch for so long."

She said in an earlier briefing, "I have no idea why this has happened, I'm stumped." She is reported to be making frantic efforts to keep the split as civil as possible.

"She's running around in circles", according to a close friend, "she will need all the support she can get. It's not like its easy to walk out on a relationship like this".

It is not known whether a pre-nuptial agreement was signed prior to the marriage, Paul McCartney is one of the richest men in the world amassing a colossal wealth due to his participation with The Beatles and subsequent musical collaborations, if an agreement hasn't been signed it is believed that she won't have a leg to stand on .

Rumours abound over the split have suggested that infidelity may have been the cause. "She's terrible" a source stated, "always trying to get her leg over".

Another source has suggested that her battle with alcoholism was the cause. "Macca couldn't handle it anymore" a friend said "he would get home at night and find her legless".

Many have attributed this to a problem which started with the present that Paul had got prior to the wedding; he gave her a new prosthetic leg for Christmas but that was just a stocking-filler. The main gift was a plane, but then he gave her a Ladyshave for the other leg.
