In less than four weeks I shall be turning fifty. Whether I like it or not, and whether I am ready for it or not. The truth is, I am not ready for it. Where on earth has it all gone? I can remember giving my dad a card for his 50th! It's middle-age for goodness sake! And I am headed for it. All I know is I had better start looking after my health. My dad had his first stroke at 54, and died at 57. I am not that far away from those either!
The relentless hot weather continues, and somehow we survive it. A drought has been declared, hosepipe bans are being enforced elsewhere in the country, and grass fires continue to break out - with one starting only eight miles from us. This was fortunately contained. It is truly an indicator that the climate is changing, and that we are becoming more careless when discarding items.
