Allow me to wish all my readers a peaceful time of the festive period. I am happy to say that I will not be DJ'ing tonight, and instead will be in the warm. They will have to pay me well to drag me from my chocolate and Bacardi!

When I think back to where I was 20 years ago, I am reminded of how bloody fortunate I am. In December of 1995 I was in Birmingham selling The Big Issue. Earning a survival and sleeping in a dank hostel in Edgbaston. I am only thankful for these people for taking me off the street itself and into relative safety. The street is cold and relentless, and you are at the mercy of anyone who wishes to inflict harm just for the sake of it.

When I last lived alone in Bedfont, I lived those four years without a carpet in the property, and even the first ten months without a fridge. To many people that could sound unbearable, but compared to those sods living it rough, it is the lap of luxury. I had a bed and a roof, and many didn't. I must not forget that.
